Is anybody else having trouble getting the LiveJournal splash page images to load on Firefox (where it comes in as a jumble of text and the login boxes are hidden at the bottom of the page?) It used to happen once in a while, but it's been going on for several days now.

This is cool!

I'm loving OK Go!'s new video.

Pissed off

I am very Not Happy(TM) with Charter Communications. We had a tech come out on Friday to fix our internet connection. The problem was with my housemate's wireless router and power supply to the router, which the tech replaced. So far, so good. Then he asked to see my laptop in order to set up my wireless access to the (reset wireless connection.) I was busy and don't keep sensitive information on my laptop, do I didn't think anything of it. Connection was fixed, everything was running fine, and the tech left. Yay, right?

I was mildly irritated to find that he had reset my browser's home page to Charter, but that is easily fixed. Since then, I've had trouble getting onto some websites I have visited before. (Things like friends' LJ pages or articles that I bookmarked.) That was weird enough, but the error pages were all Charter error pages and the error message that said "XYZ url cannot be found" had Charter gobbeldy-gook tacked on to the front of the actual URL I was trying to reach. I didn't notice right away, but there was also a Charter toolbar installed on my browser.

I went to the remove software section of my control panel and found a program authored by Charter Communications that I never installed. I also found an additional Firefox add-on program installed besides the toolbar. I've uninstalled them all, but I shouldn't have to do this! I'm running an anti-adware program in case there was anything else installed on my system.

I am so pissed off. I tried to call them to find out who I complain to, and the phone rep hung up on me after promising to transfer me to his supervisor.

Edit: And even more fail from Charter! My housemate upgraded her cable package, which required them to install a new cable box. Since then, we haven't been able to get the DVD player to work. It hasn't been a high priority, but I decided to poke around with it today. I figured we were doing something wrong with the combination of remote controls that are in play. After poking around with a bunch of things, I finally decided to check to see if it was wired properly. It wasn't. As in it wasn't wired in at all. The install tech disconnected the old set up (which included the DVD player) and never re-connected it to the new set up. The only cable coming out of the back of the DVD player is the power cord.

Well, that settles it. If and when I get my own place in St. Louis I will NOT be using Charter for anything.

This cracks me up.

I was hunting for an official video for P!nk's song Glitter in the Air, which I find particularly moving. So far, I've only found fan videos and the video of her amazing performance at the Grammys. I stumbled upon the YouTube channel that contains several of P!nk's official videos, including this one for Funhouse, a song I had not heard before tonight. I don't know why, but both the song and the video give me the giggles (and make me want to dance around the room like an idiot.) Whee!

It is a stark contrast to this breathtaking performance, which I love, but which does not inspire me to great feats of dorkdom.
